From Farm to Table: The Journey of Radix Nutrition’s Premium Ingredients

  • 4 min read

At Radix Nutrition, one of the cornerstones of the ready-made meals we provide is our commitment to excellence. This comes in many forms, but nothing is more important than how we source our ingredients and prepare them in the most favourable conditions so they are:

  • Safe
  • Of high-quality
  • Balanced for your body

Whether you are training as an athlete, or want the convenience of nutritious, ready-made meals for your every day, here’s how we get our premium ingredients to make nutritious meals.

Sourcing Our Ingredients

Fruits and Vegetables

Every Radix Nutrition meal is made with natural fresh fruits and vegetables that are freeze-dried under the most pristine of conditions, eliminating any risk of spoilage.

Super Foods

We use natural super food ingredients to help achieve over 100% RDIs across over 100 essential nutrients, per 2,000kcal. This means our range provides up to 11g of superfoods and microgreens per 2,000kcal.

Protein

We source our proteins from plant-based ingredients that come from trusted suppliers.

Our processing facility uses complex nutritional calculations that consider the protein’s complete amino acid profiles. This means that the final formulation provides a complete amino acid profile, so you have the best quality of protein for performance and everyday muscle repair.

Our plant-based protein is sourced from plants that increase a meal's overall nutritional value due to an increased variety of untreated ingredients and associated phytonutrients.

Carbohydrates

We source our carbohydrates from natural sources such as vegetables, quinoa, rice, millet, and buckwheat.

We also use parboiled white rice in some chosen products for two reasons.

Firstly, research has shown that some nutrient levels in rice naturally increase during the parboiling process.

Secondly, research has demonstrated rice bran contains antinutritional factors that may limit the absorption of other important nutrients. Rice is included as a carbohydrate, and as such, it has been kept to a pure and simple form.

Fats

We use our Radix Nutrition Architecture (RNA for short) to source fats from diverse, high-quality, natural plant-based ingredients.

This includes natural sources such as:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Coconut milk
  • Linseed
  • Sunflowers
  • Pumpkin seeds

How Radix Nutrition Selects Its Farms and Suppliers

When it comes to selecting our farms and suppliers, we follow rigorous criteria and process that ensures we only work with the best in the business.

Our Criteria for Selection

Seeking Third-Party Certifications

When purchasing grass-fed whey protein powder, we look at certification by reputable third-party organisations. These certifications ensure that the product adheres to strict standards for grass-fed sourcing and the absence of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which we keep all of our products free from.

Prioritise Cold-Processed and Undenatured Protein

Cold processing is a method of extracting whey protein without employing high heat or chemicals, which can denature the protein and reduce its nutritional value.

Undenatured whey protein maintains its native structure and bioavailability, ensuring consumers benefit most from the supplement. Look for grass-fed whey protein powders explicitly mentioning cold processing or undenatured protein on the label.

Opt for No Artificial Additives

The most effective grass-fed whey protein powders have a short and clean ingredient list. We avoid products containing artificial sweeteners, colours, or flavours, as these may have adverse health effects.

Instead, we use natural sweeteners to flavour our delicious meals and protein powder.

Assess Protein Concentration

The protein concentration of a whey protein powder is a crucial factor when making a selection. Choose a product with a high protein content per serving, ideally around 20-25 grams per scoop. This will ensure that you're getting an adequate amount of protein to support your fitness and health goals.

Verify a Satisfaction Guarantee

High-quality manufacturers often stand by their products by offering a satisfaction guarantee. This allows us to assess the product beforehand and see whether it meets our standards.

The Selection Process

Our range of ready-made meals is made with 100% natural ingredients, with absolutely no:

  • Artificial flavours
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Artificial colours
  • Preservatives
  • GMOs
  • Gluten

Steps Taken in Quality Control to Maintain the Nutritional Value of Ingredients

Let's have a behind-the-scenes look at the meticulous quality control measures that safeguard our nutritional integrity.

Inspection and Testing

The inspection and testing process of sourcing and packaging food involves multiple stages to ensure safety and quality. Initially, raw materials are scrutinised for quality and contaminants.

During packaging, food is tested for microbiological contamination, chemical residues, and physical hazards. Packaging materials themselves are inspected to ensure they are food-grade and do not leach harmful substances.

The final products undergo random sampling and testing for nutritional accuracy, shelf-life stability, and adherence to labelling regulations. Traceability systems track the product through every stage, facilitating recalls if necessary.

Storage and Handling

In our processing facility we always maintain proper temperature and humidity levels to prevent spoilage and growth of pathogens. Using food-grade, contaminant-free containers and packaging materials that offer protection against physical, chemical, and biological hazards is crucial.

Regular inspections ensure the integrity of the packaging and storage of our ready-made meals. And finally, with no gluten on site, we keep all of our meals gluten-free.
